Gregory Michael Beirman, 62 of Raymond died on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023,flying his homemade plane.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville.
Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joe Koyickal officiating. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville.
Mr. Bierman was born Aug. 7, 1961, in Effingham, a son of Arthur and Marcella (Harmon) Bierman. He married Cindy Bushur on July 7, 1984 in Sigel and she survives.
Mr. Bierman graduated from Dieterich High School in 1977. He attended Eastern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in accounting and became a CPA. He worked in Florida before moving to Litchfield where he worked as a CPA for a couple of local firms and then started his own practice. His family settled on a farm near Barnett.
Mr. Bierman was an enterprising and brilliant man, full of good humor and he had many hobbies. He was extremely hardworking and taught himself to be a jack-of-all trades. His favorite things to do were flying his airplane, operating his excavator, making improvements around the farm, enjoying a fine cigar, boating on the Mississippi River and spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by, his mother, Marcella Bierman of Dieterich, sons; James Bierman and August Bierman both of St. Louis, MO, daughter; Kelsey (Marcus) Rutherford of Plaquemine, LA and granddaughters; Quinn and Lyla Rutherford.
