The Hillsboro High School football team had a special guest at their homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 4.
Jim Kruschwitz, a 1962 graduate of Hillsboro High School, returned to the hilltop to check out his old stomping grounds before life took him to Gurnee.
While it had been a while since Kruschwitz graced the grounds at HHS, he has never ventured far from the athletic fields.
For 36 years, Kruschwitz was an IHSA offical, working football, basketball and softball games. He also worked football at the next level and was inducted into the American Football Association Hall of Fame as an official.
Since he was used to being on the field, Hillsboro put Kruschwitz to work on Friday, asking him to do the ceremonial coin toss before the kickoff.
