Harold P. Gilomen, 88, of Highland, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with the Rev. Scott Busacker, pastor, at Hope Lutheran Church, Highland, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland.

Mr. Gilomen was born on Sunday, Sept. 1, 1935, in Highland, the son of the late Benjamin and Irma (nee Lorenz) Gilomen. On Saturday, Aug. 10, 1957, he married Sandra J. Beard Gilomen, in Pocahontas, and who preceded him in death on Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Mr. Gilomenwas born in Highland and grew up in the community. He was a 1953 graduate of Highland High School. He served with the US Army from 1954 to 1956 with duty in France. Mr. Gilomen was an electrician with IBEW #649 with a 60 year service pin. He and his wife operated Sandy and Harry's Strawberry Farm with over 10 acres of strawberries for some 27 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and the parade unit of Ma-Cli-Bo Shriners. He also liked to hunt deer and rabbit, and always had a big garden.

He was a member of IBEW #649; Highland Masonic Lodge #583; Scottish Rite Bodies of Southern Illinois, Belleville; Ma-Cli-Bo Shrine Club (Circus Unit); and Ainad Temple Shriner.

Mr. Gilomen is survived by his sons Ronnie G. (Diane) Gilomen of Highland and Gary G. Gilomen of Farina; grandchildren Jessica M. (Tim) Warnecke of Highland; Eric J. (Sarah Wuebbles) Gilomen of Tamalco, Briana M. (Fiancé Brandon Saunchzegaw) Gilomen of Baldwin, MO, and Brett G. (Mallory Rutz) Gilomen of Pocahontas; great grandchildren Trevor M. Warnecke of Highland and Jemma J. Warnecke of Highland; brothers James Gilomen of Trenton, Earl Gilomen of Highland and Floyd (Mary) Gilomen of Highland; and sister-in-law Ramona J. Gilomen of Highland.

He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 19, 1974, and mother on Feb.4, 1994; wife on March 13, 2014; brother Raymond B. Gilomen on Feb. 4, 1998, sister Carol I. Kreutzberg  on June 28, 2008, sister Eileen E. Buske on Oct. 21, 2017 and brother Glen J. Gilomen on Aug. 20, 2021; sister-in-law Clara F. Gilomen on March 7, 2006, sister-in-law Bonnie Gilomen on March 26,1999,  brother-in-law Harry Kreutzberg on Jan. 2, 2015, brother-in-law Lester Buske on Sept. 22, 1995, and sister-in-law Bernice M. Gilomen on Feb. 1, 2020.
