Harold W. Jurgena, 92,of Irving, died on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro.

Masonic rites and a private family funeral service will be held. Hough andSons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is  assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Jurgena was born on Nov. 9, 1928, in Irving, to George W. and Ila M. (Voils) Jurgena. He was a 1946 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He married Delores Lueking on Aug. 10, 1965, and they were married for over 55 years.

Mr. Jurgena was a lifelong farmer. He also worked at the Hillsboro Glass Plant for over 40 years. Mr. Jurgena had been on the Hillsboro School Board, Hillsboro Educational Foundation as a co-founder, Hillsboro Educational Foundation Alumni award Recipient in 2011, Mayor of Irving for 42 years, Montgomery County Health Department Board Member, Continuing Recovery Center Board Treasurer, Irving Masonic Lodge  Past Master, ANSAR Shrine Temple, St Luke’s Church and council. He enjoyed going to antique tractor shows and going to tractor shops, and was a member of the Mid-State Collectors club.

Mr. Jurgena is survived by his wife; one son, William “Bill” (Tracy) Jurgena;  one daughter, Carol (Frank) Elam; six grandchildren, Angela (Alban) Kaculi, Katie (Luke) Stewart, Christopher (Hannah) Jurgena, Sarah (Cory) McFarlane, Susan (Edward) Stewart and Melissa (Baxter) Grace; and nine great-grandchildren, Emmett, Pax, Saylor Myles, Addaline, Isabelle, Elise, Ema and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Martin Jurgena.
