Harold Walter Kolkhorst, 94, of Morrisonville, died on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 3:45 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 12, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville. A graveside ceremony will follow, beginning at 10 a.m. at Morrisonville Cemetery with Pastor Joseph Nehring officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Department of Defense and American Legion Post #721.

Mr. Kolkhorst was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Harvel, to Henry A. and Sophie A. (Backus) Kolkhorst. He married Vivian Ruth Anderson on April 30, 1966, in Harvel, and she preceded him in death on April 20, 1998. He then married Juanita C. Yeaman in May 2006, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2012.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He went on to work his entire life as a mechanic, and was employed by Bandy Chevrolet in Raymond, Gilbert Large in Taylorville and Leitschuh’s Garage in Morrisonville.

Mr. Kolkhorst was interested in all things with a motor and could fix anything. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping and boating.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel.

Mr. Kolkhorst is survived by his sister, Louise Boyd of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first and second wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma Stowell, Esther McNeeley and Pearl Kolkhorst; and brothers, Earl and Fred Kolkhorst.
