Harold W. "Bill" Niehaus, 88, of Hillsboro, formerly of Raymond, died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at his residence.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Father James Neuman officiating. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Mr. Niehaus was born July 1, 1930, in Raymond, to Cecil and Beulah (Nettleship) Niehaus. He married Lorena Schum on Feb. 1, 1951, in Raymond, and she survives.

A lifelong farmer, he also worked at Hough Funeral Home for Bob Hough. He served in the U.S. Marines H Co. First Marine Division during the Korean War. On Oct. 4, 1952, he was injured and received a Purple Heart.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, DAV and the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Feeny of Hillsboro, and Nancy (Andy) Pearson and Annette Boston, both of Arizona; one son, Scott (Tami) Niehaus of Butler; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Ruemmler, Barbara Husman and Carolyn Siddens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild; one brother, Robert; and three sisters, Betty, Frances and Mary.

Memorials may be made to DAV or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
