Harry D. Odle Sr., 81

Harry Dale Odle Sr., 81, of Litchfield, died Thursday morning, Feb. 12, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family. 

There are no services planned at this time.

Mr. Odle was born on Dec. 13, 1944, in Hillsboro, a son of Charles and Arrietta Odle. He married Leeta Law on Nov. 14, 1969, in Granite City.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Odle worked as a mechanic for Norfolk Southern Railroad for more than 20 years. After retiring from the railroad, he held several other jobs in the industry until he fully retired in 2004.

Mr. Odle was a member of Am-Vets-Litchfield, the VFW, BMWE Lodge 1107 and Litchfield Moose Lodge 1634. 

Mr. Odle’s passion was fixing things; he enjoyed working on equipment and wrenching in his garage. His true purpose was to help other people in their time of need. He enjoyed gardening and his pets and was always known for playing pranks.

Mr. Odle is survived by his wife, Leeta of Litchfield; daughters, Toni Odle White of Taylor Springs and Alice (Brian) Jagosh of Litchfield; sons, Harry Odle, Jr. of Litchfield and Daniel Eugene Odle of Litchfield; brother, Larry Odle of Litchfield; sisters, Sharon Gunderson of Hillsboro and Alice Allen of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Jones; sisters, Iona Odle and Bernice Odle; and brothers, Clarence Odle, Everett Odle, Vernon Odle, Charles Odle, Paul Odle, Bob Odle and Gary Odle.
