Harry J. Earnest, 85, of Sorento, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Meridith Funeral Home in Pocahontas with the Rev Loren File officiating. Interment followed in Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas.

Mr. Earnest was born Jan. 25, 1934, in East St. Louis, to Hank and Margaret (Thompson) Earnest. He married Betty Adams on July 16, 1955, in Grantfork, and she preceded him in death in March 1975. He married Willa Lohman on Nov. 11, 1977, in Sorento, and she survives.

Some of his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling. He loved his dogs and all animals. He really enjoyed watching his grandchildren show their animals through the 4-H program. He was a fan of the Highland Stock Car races and enjoyed attending.

In addition to his beloved wife, Willa of 41 years, he is survived by his children, Larry Earnest of Vandalia and Cindy Heflin of Mulberry Grove; stepson, John Gall, Jr. of Golden Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Jessica (significant other Ethan Hanson) Earnest, Josie (Kyle) Barnes and Danielle Heflin; stepgrandchildren, Derek (significant other Laura) Gall, Cale Gall, Nicholas (Cara) Snow, Lauren (significant other Ryan Athmer) Gall and Megan (significant other Craig Neer) Snow; step great-grandchild, Kinslee Gall; brother, Marvin Earnest of Old Ripley and sister, Georgia (John) Bakay of Belleville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Betty.

Memorials may be made to Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas.
