Harry L. Ashmore, 97, of Cookeville, TN, formerly of Hillsboro, died at 9:51 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at Signature Healthcare of Putnam Co, Algood, TN.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Military rites will be accorded at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, in Springfield. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home of Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Ashmore was born on July, 31, 1922, in Decatur, to Charles and Diccie Belle (Darling) Ashmore. He married Esther Sexton on April 4, 1942, at St. Charles, MO, she preceded him in death on June 17, 2009. Mr. Ashmore was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II. He owned and operated a salvage yard in Hillsboro and Schram City.

Mr. Ashmore is survived by a daughter, Marsha Dianne Ashmore of Cookeville, TN; six grandchildren, David P. Ashmore, Todd (Jackie) Ratermann, Teresa (Dale) Hughes, Bryan (Libby) Ratermann, Chris Wagehoft and Matthew Wagehoft; eight great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; children, David Bruce Ashmore and Darla Meyer; and siblings, Frank Ashmore, Dallas Ashmore, Irene Hall, Norma Jones and Juanita Eileen Kershaw.
