Helen E. Merriman, 91, of Fillmore, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at her home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ramsey with Father Scott Snider officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Ramsey.

Mrs. Merriman was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Ramsey, the daughter of Martin Bernard and Sara Jane (Bergin) Otto. She married Russell Burwin "Bur" Merriman on May 8, 1948, in Ramsey, and he survives.

A retired teacher at Knowles country one-room schoolhouse, she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Ramsey. She received the Women of Distinction award from the Springfield Diocese Council for Catholic Women.

An active member with the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Women's Association, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Fayette County and a past member of the Montgomery Home Extension Fillmore Group.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Larry (Anita) Merriman of Ramsey, Mark (Jan) Merriman of Fillmore and Steve (Lisa) Merriman of Vandalia; daughters, Brenda (Mike) Cline of Joliet, MT, Cathy (Brent) Manning of Pawnee and Carol (Danny) Eickhoff of Hillsboro; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Richard Otto; and twin great-grandchildren, Emma and Ella.
