Helen Edna Aldridge, 96, died Friday, April 2, 2021, at 10:23 a.m. at Integrity Healthcare in Alton.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmersville with Pastor Mark Stenbeck officiating. Burial will follow in Rovey Cemetery in Farmersville. Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Aldridge was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Farmersville, the daughter of Herman A. and Bertha (Heien) Fuchs. She was baptized on Jan. 11, 1925, and confirmed on April 10, 1938. She married Charles “Henry” Albert Aldridge on May 9, 1948, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmersville, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1979.

For 43 years,  she worked as an administrative assistant. Of those years, 34 were with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). She retired from IDOT on Dec. 30, 1984.

She is survived by a stepson, Jerold (wife Charlotte) Aldridge of Decatur; stepgrandchildren, Mark (wife Beth), Melanie (husband Chris) and Mindy (husband Tony); nine great-granddaughters; and 15 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dolores Clack and Norma Stenbeck; brothers, Omar Fuchs, Victor Fuchs and Harvey Fuchs; and stepdaughter, Sharon Wainscott.

Memorials in her memory may be made to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or Habitat for Humanity.
