Helen Floyd Beal Whitlock of Springfield, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at her home.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Cemetery in Coffeen. Bisch Funeral Home West in Springfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Whitlock was born May 18, 1931, the daughter of Floyd and Leone Lindly Beal. She married Kenneth Dale Whitlock on April 20, 1951, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death in 2015.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro. She worked at Walgreens and then Broadwell’s Drug Store in downtown Springfield where she managed the cosmetics counter. Later she was the bookkeeper for the family business, Structural Rubber Products. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Springfield.
Mrs. Whitlock was known for her sense of humor, love of dogs and horses and her enjoyment of reading.
She is survived by several nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Animal Protective League.
