Help Salvation Army Provide Year-Long Assistance

Posted

As many of you know, the Salvation Army is here in Montgomery County year-round providing temporary emergency assistance to those in need.

Much of this could not be possible without the funding we receive through our Christmas Red Kettle Campaign.  With the continued cuts in federal and state programs, we have seen an increase in requests for our assistance.

Therefore, we are hoping that this year's Red Kettle Campaign will be a successful fund drive even greater than reaching last year's goal of $7,260.93.  This campaign cannot happen without the help offered by our community members helping to staff our Christmas Kettle Campaign, and for that we are thankful.

Need knows no season, and the Bible declares in Matthew 26:11, "for you have the poor with you always."  So at this time, we make a blanket appeal to our community and its local businesses to consider helping us reach our goal this holiday season with a generous donation to our campaign.

Donations may be placed in our red kettles at Capri IGA in Hillsboro or at Dollar General in Schram City, or they may be mailed to the Hillsboro Salvation Army Thrift Store, 237 South Main Street, Hillsboro, IL 62049.  Thank you for your help in helping us exceed our goal this holiday season.

Please make your checks payable to Montgomery County Salvation Army.  Gifts to the Salvation Army are tax deductible according to the IRS regulations if you itemize on your tax returns this year.

Thank you very much, Montgomery County residents, for your help.
