Herman L. Bellaver, 76, of Carbondale, formerly of Hillsboro, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Manor Court Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Carbondale.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will take place at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bellaver was born in Hillsboro on Dec. 7, 1939, the son of the late John and Lorene (Henneke) Bellaver.
He earned a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in education/library media from SIU-Carbondale. After retiring from education as a teacher, he moved from Longmont, CO, back to Carbondale. He had also lived in Hillsboro.
Mr. Bellaver enjoyed Saluki football and basketball. He was a season ticket holder for many years.
He is survived by a brother, Norman Bellaver of Hillsboro, and sister, Corrine (husband Guy) Sheridan of Hillsboro.
Besides his parents, Mr. Bellaver was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Tobias and Norma Longworth, and two brothers, Ramon Bellaver and one brother in infancy.
Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Educational Foundation or the donor's choice.
