Hillsboro High School Grad Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash

A single-vehicle crash between Donnellson and Greenville in Bond County took the life of a Hillsboro High School graduate on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Gavin Twitty, 22, of Highland, was northbound on Illinois Rt. 127, about a half mile south of Baumberger Avenue, when his vehicle left the road at an "S" curve and struck a power pole. The Bond County Sheriff's Department said that Twitty was trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at 11:32 p.m. by the Bond County Coroner's office.

Twitty, who had previously lived in Witt with his family, was a 2015 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he played football, wrestled and ran track. He was also a member of the Illinois National Guard and the Mercenaries Rugby team.

Twitty was currently attending Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and working nights at UPS.

The Bond County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.
