After starting the year with four straight tournaments on the road, the Hillsboro boys golf team was in the mood for some home cooking on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
The Toppers had the top six individual scores on the night as they shot a 149 to beat Litchfield (201) and Williamsville (204) at the Hillsboro Country Club.
Alex White led the senior-laden Toppers with a 1-under-par 35 on his home course, edging teammate Alex Eickhoff by one stroke. Owen Malloy and Gunnar Micnheimer would also break 40, shooting a pair of 39s to finish out the scoring.
Dane Huber and Wilson Hamby weren't far back in the five and six spots, shooting rounds of 40 and 41 respectively.
The next two individual spots also belonged to Toppers as Tad Daniels and Dominic Haggard both shot 40s for the Hillsboro JV. Hayden Fuller and Preston Lyerla added a 48 and a 49 for Hillsboro's second string, who finished with a 177 on the day.
Litchfield would be led by Anthony Boston, who was ninth overall with a 43. Zach Boston would card a 49 to back his older brother, while their cousin, Keagan Marten added a 51. Allen Schneider finished out the scoring with a 58, while Kelvin Dooley and Blake Rentz shot rounds of 60 and 65 respectively.
Litchfield will be back in action on Saturday, Aug. 31, as they travel to Greenview for the Bulldog Invite. Hillsboro will be off until Sept. 3, when they take on Altamont and Pana at Oak Terrace.
