Five players from Hillsboro and two from Litchfield were among the 41 selected by the South Central Conference Coaches for this year's all-conference baseball teams.
Hillsboro, who finished fourth in the conference with a 5-4 record, would have one player on the first team, three on the second team and one on the third team this year.
Griffin King would be the Toppers' first team representative after a stellar senior season at shortstop for Coach Bob Allen. King led the team in batting with a .459 average and was the top Topper in runs (28), hits (34), triples (3), home runs (1) and was second RBIs (16) and stolen bases (11).
Hillsboro would have another senior infielder selected on the second team as Landon Carroll earned a selection. Carroll batted .315 on the season with 23 runs scored and ten RBIs.
Juniors Tanner Mullen and Brock Bellaver would join Carroll on the second team at DH/utility and outfield respectively. Mullen batted .286 on the year with 15 RBIs and 18 hits, while Bellaver batted .275 with 11 hits and four RBIs.
Senior Jordan Gregg would round out the Hillsboro honorees with a spot on the third team in the infield. Gregg batted .406 with 21 RBIs, 18 runs scored and a team-best five doubles.
For Litchfield, Brady Bishop and Billy Beckham were both third team selections in the outfield.
Bishop tore the cover off the ball at the plate this year, batting .444 with 16 hits in 36 at-bats and 14 runs scored. Beckham would bat .260 for the season with 13 hits and a team-best 15 RBIs for Coach Chris Headrick.
Conference champion Greenville (9-0) would have the most selections with seven, while second place Carlinville (8-1) would have six.
Staunton would match Hillsboro with five picks each, while Southwestern, Gillespie and Vandalia all had four apiece. Litchfield, Pana and Roxana rounded out the list with two honorees each.
This year's list would feature 22 seniors, 11 juniors, seven sophomores and one freshman.
Five players would be selected at two different positions. Carlinville's Kyle Dixon was a first team pick at pitcher and a third team pick in the outfield, while teammate Colton DeLong was a first team outfielder and a second team pitcher.
Greenville's Brock Nelson also earned a first team nod at pitcher and second team honors in the infield, while Ryne Hanslow was a second team selection at both pitcher and in the infield. Sophomore Lane Funnemann was a double threat as well, earning a second team nod in the infield and a third team spot at pitcher.
