Houston E. Satterlee, 87, of Coffeen, died on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at 12:25 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Private funeral services will be conducted at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen with the Rev. Ralph Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery in Coffeen.

Mr. Satterlee was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Coffeen, to Calvin Edgar and Mildred Gladys (Sharp) Satterlee. He married Luretta Newcum on Aug. 14, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Coffeen, and she survives.

He graduated from Coffeen High School with the class of 1951, and served as a draftsman at Hurst-Rosche in Hillsboro for over 40 years. He later worked at Fuller Brothers and Kink’s Korner.

Mr. Satterlee was a volunteer fireman with the Coffeen Fire Department and served on the Olive Hill Cemetery Board, Rocky Ford Park, Inc. and East Fork Township Board, where he served as clerk. He was also a part of the Masonic Lodge in Coffeen, later transferring to the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge.

He coached many ball teams for his children, shot trap, and loved to hunt and fish. He never knew a stranger.

During his lifetime, Mr. Satterlee resided in St. Charles for a short time when he was a boy, and Coffeen, where he spent most of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Vickie (husband Richard) Lovellette and Donna Satterlee, both of Litchfield, Gary (wife Julie) Satterlee of Hillsboro and Hugh (wife Angie) Satterlee of Coffeen; six grandchildren, Luke Satterlee, Erika Satterlee, Erin Satterlee, Alesia Pierce, Sarah Kim and John Kim; and three great-grandchildren, Charlie Elise Satterlee, Finlay Von Satterlee and Nathan August Schmidt.

Mr. Satterlee was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hugh Satterlee; and sister, Katherine Richards.
