Ila Allene (Ruppe) Butler, 92, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at 6:58 p.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Don Hudelson officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place in Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro at a later date.

Mrs. Butler was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Coffeen, the daughter of the late Walter and Cordia Gertrude (Elam) Ruppe. She married Edward Louis Butler in Aug. 1947, at her parents' home in Coffeen, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1983.

A graduate of Coffeen High School, she lived in Hillsboro. She ran a grocery store with her husband, worked for Glichman Plumbing, and also helped her husband and son with their rental properties and laundromats.

She was a member of the American Legion Women's Group, and she collected and delivered clothing to the Appalachian region in London, KY, for over 20 years. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Mrs. Butler is survived by special friend, Dale Boyd of Hillsboro; son, Edward Lee (wife Cathy) Butler of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Eric Todd Butler and Steven Chad Butler; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Butler, Abbie Butler and Mackenzie Weatherford; four great-great-grandchildren, Huntley Durbin, Archie Durbin, Braelynn SanMiguel and Landon Deaton; and brother, George Ruppe of Vandalia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Lee Butler; and sister, Imogene (Ruppe) Hudelson on Oct. 20, 2017.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and donor's choice.
