The Lincolnwood girls basketball team turned in one of their best JV performances of the season on Friday, Feb. 7, with a narrow 30-24 loss to Litchfield, but the extra effort in the prelim left the varsity a little gassed.
With several players playing on both JV and varsity, the varsity Lancers fell to Illini Central 67-6 in the night cap, dropping their record to 0-20 on the season.
The Lady Cougars fed the ball to Kyndel Arthalony all night, with the senior racking up 36 points in the win. Khloe Damm would add 16, while Reese Markley and Illyianna Crutcher finished with 11 and four respectively.
Illini Central led 13-1 after eight minutes of play, with Cassie Krager’s free throw the only points for the Lady Lancers. After a scoreless second quarter made it 33-1, Krager added another free throw in the third quarter to make it 51-2 going into the final frame.
The Cougars would finish off the win with a 16-4 fourth quarter, with Haelee Damm hitting a two and Sydney Herman knocking down two free throws.
Herman, the team’s lone senior, was honored prior to the game with her parents, Ty and Marla Herman.
The Lancers’ will now focus on the postseason, where they will take on Sandoval in the opening game of the Nokomis Regional on Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. The winner of that game moves on to play Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, with the regional championship to follow on Friday, Feb. 14.
