Our Illinois legislators, in baseball terms, have stepped up to the plate for Illinois farmers and they have gone three-for-three in this legislative session.
First at-bat: Partners for Conservation Fund renewed for funding of local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and their activities.
Second at-bat: Designated dedicated funding of $3.5 million for implementation of nutrient loss reduction strategies from agriculture lands to improve water quality in our streams and rivers.
Third at-bat: Doubled the acres available for the $5/acre reduction in Federal Crop Insurance premiums of the “Fall Covers for Spring Savings” program
In the words of the great St. Louis Cardinal announcer, Jack Buck, “That’s a winner.”
