Organizers in Irving have finalized plans for this year’s Irving Memorial March on Sunday, May 24.
The program begins at the Irving United Methodist Church at 1 p.m., where flag carrier Frank Newberry will lead the processional march to the Irving Cemetery.
Pastor Sue Bryce of the Irving United Methodist Church will lead the opening prayer, followed by opening remarks from Janice Galer.
Participants will then be invited to join the singing of God Bless America, followed by Melissa Jones reading the Gettsyburg Address.
Linda Denton and Galer will provide a floral tribute to Moncravie and Miss Esther Schraut, followed by the reading of the poem, In Flanders Fields, read by Larry Pickerill.
Denton will introduce this year’s special guest speaker, Mark Noyes, before a closing prayer by Pastor Bryce.
Members of the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard will present the colors at the start of the program and a 21-gun salute at the conclusion of the program.
The program is coordinated by Janice Galer.
In case of inclement weather, the program will be held on Sunday, May 31.
