Jack L. Weller, 88, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Private family graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 13, with Pastor Rudy Elam officiating. Litchfield Family Funeral Service assisted the family.

Mr. Weller was born June 16, 1932, in Litchfield, to Edgar and Mildred (Hamilton) Weller. He married Naomi R. Opel on Jan. 1, 1955, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2020.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Throughout his civilian career, he worked at Webco, Fiat Allis and for the city of Litchfield, retiring in 1994.

Mr. Weller was an avid welder, building a truck camper in 1968 that was featured in The Stabilizer magazine. He enjoyed traveling with his family, playing pinochle, fishing, hunting and pitching horseshoes.

He is survived by his sons, Tom (Anna) Weller of Springfield, Tim (Waneta) Weller of Thayer and William “Bill” Weller of Springfield; daughters, Candace “Candy” (Lou)  Taylor and Cindy (Mark) Reed, both of Litchfield; grandchildren, Chris and Jeff Weller, Carly, Ruth and Joseph Weller, Brandon and Jacob Taylor and Nick, Greg (Ashley) and Jeremiah Reed; great-grandson, Wesley Reed; brothers, Marvin “Grump” (Jackie) Weller of Independence, MO, and Harry (Patty) Weller of Litchfield; and sister, Freda Kieslar of Hillsboro.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Weller was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Mark; five brothers; and four sisters.
