Jacquelyn Siedler Green, 89, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Litchfield, died on Saturday, April 18, 2020, after battling heart and kidney disease.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Belton Cemetery, in Belton, MO.

Mrs. Green was born on Oct. 14, 1930, in St. Louis, MO, to Theodore Juergen and Martha (Hutchison) Siedler. Her family moved to Litchfield when she was in high school.

She met her husband, Ken Green, of 70 years at the Firestone tire store her father owned in Litchfield, after their two younger sisters played matchmaker. Mr. Green asked her to take a walk with him one warm September night in 1946 and they were together  since. They graduated from Litchfield High School in 1947 and married on May 30, 1949, before moving to Kansas City, MO.

Mrs. Green taught history and social studies at local public schools for 25 years. More recently she was active in the GFWC Homemakers of Hickman Mills chapter and arranged flowers at the Hickman Mills Community Christian Church.

Her family knew her to be a fantastic cook who could take nearly anything and turn it into something delicious. She was particularly known for her Thanksgiving stuffing and for baking the best lemon pies. Mrs. Green was a prolific gardener and frequently brought plants from her garden on cross-country flights for her kids to replant, to the chagrin of TSA agents everywhere.

She loved painting, nature programs and telling old stories. Mrs. Green loved to travel and was an avid bird watcher. Her grandchildren lovingly remember the summers they spent with her and that she was always available to go swimming or read a book.

She is survived by her husband; children, Victoria and Pamela (Jim) Nadler; three grandchildren, Ted (Carolyn) Nadler, grandson Ben (Em) Nadler and Emilie Nadler; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Lucy, Evie and Danny; and in-laws, Beverly (Richard) Preston and Sue (Leslie) Brackenhoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joanne Brough Dinkins; in-laws, Viola (Weatherford) and Melvin Green of Litchfield, and Mary Jean (Green) Duncan.

Memorial donations can be sent to: GFWC Homemakers of Hickman Mills, care of Co-President Frances Cousins, 13121 Lowell Avenue, Grandview, MO 64030. Condolences may be left online at www.legacy.com.
