James A. Mutchler, 79, of Elizabeth, AR, formerly of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, at his residence.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Stefan Munker, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be held in Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler. Military rites will be accorded.

Mr. Mutchler was born June 11, 1940, in Commerce, MO, the son of James Wade and Louise Mutchler.  He married Sandra Muse in 1961, and they later divorced. He then married Nancy McNeese, and they later divorced.

A 1958 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

During his lifetime, he lived in Hillsboro, southern Missouri and Elizabeth, AR. A plumbing contractor, he was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 137 in Springfield, as well as the Operating Engineers Local 520 and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, knife collecting, family and his dogs.

He is survived by his children, Jack W. (wife Mary) Mutchler, Jeanine A. Zimmerman and stepson, Rock (wife Jami) Mutchler; nine grandchildren, Justin (wife Jessica) Zimmerman, Mallory Zimmerman (fiance Mathew Duncan), Remington Zimmerman, Logan Mutchler, Jacob Mutchler, Lydia Mutchler, Bryce Mutchler, Kaidence Mutchler and Rylan Mutchler; two great-grandchildren, June Zimmerman and Joanna Zimmerman; and brother, Charles "Kayo" Mutchler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Nichols.
