James M. Schuerman, 76

James Michael Schuerman, 76, of Nokomis, died at 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at Heritage Health in Pana.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Schuerman was born on September 21, 1943, in Decatur, to Kenneth F. and Martha (Duncan) Schuerman. He married Grace Sally Whitlow on June 7, 1975, in Decatur. Mr. Schuerman worked as a locksmith for his father, in maintenance and most recently as a van driver for Fayco Enterprises.

The Schuermans served as foster parents to many children throughout the years. Mr. Schuerman had an artistic talent and enjoyed coloring and drawing, and crafted many nativity scenes from different materials. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and making others laugh.

Mr. Schuerman is survived by his wife; mother; children, Evelyn (Marty) Cloe of Tower Hill, April (Gailon) Balestri of Eagarville, Cris Schuerman of Nokomis, and Crystal (Greg) Linton of Branson, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Kasey Schuerman of Indiana; grandchildren, Paul Balestri, Gracelynn Balestri and Hunter Schuerman; siblings, Kenneth Schuerman of Washington State, Linda (Clyde) Gregory of Oakley, and Joseph (Cindy) Schuerman of Carol Stream; brother-in-law, Mike Watson of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; son, Charles Schuerman; and sister, Patty Watson.
