James William "Jimmy" Porter, 28, of Carlinville, died Saturday evening, Aug. 18, 2018, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, beginning at 10 a.m. at The Federated Church in Carlinville with the Rev. Meg Biddle officiating. Burial will follow at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.

Mr. Porter was born Aug. 18, 1990, in Hillsboro, to James Wesley and Leslie (Overturf) Porter.

He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 2009, where he was active in football and FFA.

Mr. Porter worked as a diesel technician, welder and was a jack of all trades. Most recently, he was a farm hand at Wonder Green Farm in Carlinville.

He enjoyed spending time with his son, playing pool, fishing, camping and building things.

Mr. Porter is survived by his mother, Leslie Porter Bell of Carlinville; son, Jordan Wesley Porter; sisters, Brandy (John) Sproull and Kaitlyn (Jesse) Hartsook, both of Carlinville; and brothers, Michael (Mallory) Bendorf of Jacksonville and Jonathan Porter of Carlinville who was his twin.

He was preceded in death by his father in June 1996.
