Janice Cheryl Cassidy, 62, of Sherman, died on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, in the comfort of her home surrounded by friends and family after a 13-year battle of cancer.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 28, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Sutton Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Amanda Richards officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Ohlman Cemetery. Due to COVID guidelines, those attending are encouraged to social distance and wear a mask.

Ms. Cassidy was born April 4, 1958, to Darrell and Melba Cassidy.

She graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1977, and earned her associate’s degree from Lincoln Land College of Illinois.

During her career, Ms. Cassidy worked for the State of Illinois for 30 years and recently retired due to health issues. She loved her job and co-workers.

She loved life and enjoyed her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She loved having a good time with her friends and extended family, and had a special love for her animal  friends. She loved her cats and dogs, and leaves behind her dog Tucker, who was always at her side.

Ms. Cassidy is survived by her mother of Ohlman; brother, Roger (Beaulah) Cassidy of Ohlman; sister, Pam (Ron) Myers of Nokomis; nieces and nephews, Zeke Cassidy and Alex Cassidy, both of Ohlman, Darci (Brent) Harrison of Fillmore and Trisha Taylor of Greenville; and great-nieces and nephews, Dolan Harrison and Peyton Harrison, both of Fillmore, and Laynie and Bailey Taylor of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her father.
