Janice D. Guyot, 91, of Nokomis, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at Life’s Journey in Taylorville.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Nokomis Cemetery. CDC protocol will be followed, allowing only ten people or less at a time. Social distancing and face masks are required.

Mrs. Guyot was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Greenwood Township in Christian County, the daughter of Emil William and Cora Elizabeth (Barnstable) Schneider. She married James “Beaver” Guyot on Sept. 19, 1948, in Nokomis, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2009.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nokomis. She and her husband built and ran the Dog and Suds drive-in restaurant in Nokomis. Later, she owned and operated Jay Dee’s Variety Store in Nokomis until she retired.

Mrs. Guyot is survived by daughter, JoAnn (Louis) Stauder of Nokomis; granddaughters, Megan (Jeremy) Mehochko of Nokomis and Lindsay (Alan) Howard of Rochester; and great-grandchildren, Presley and Mackenzie Mehochko, and Blakely and Owen Howard.
