Janice Kay Powell, 73, of Palmyra, died late Saturday evening, June 3, 2023, at Carlinville Area Hospital.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 8, at Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra. Burial was at Panther Creek Cemetery near Scottville. Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Powell was born on June 28, 1949, in Litchfield, the daughter of Freddie and Clara (Bellegante) Passalacqua. She married Jimmy Powell on Nov. 30, 1968, in Palmyra.
Mrs. Powell was a 1967 graduate of Northwestern High School. She attended Lincoln Land Community College and worked for the Bank of Palmyra for several years. Currently she was president of Passalacqua and Powell Trucking in Palmyra. She loved sitting outside on her swing and reading.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband; children, Giovanna “Gia” Maria (Lance) Lovelace and Anthony “Tony” James (Faith) Powell all of Palmyra; four grandchildren, Nash and Isabella Powell, and Rhett and Rylee Lovelace; one brother, Ross (Linda) Passalacqua of Palmyra; a nephew and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
