Jean Stewart, 93, of Litchfield, formerly of Butler, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 12:07 p.m. at her residence, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Gary Schwab officiating. Burial will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mrs. Stewart was born March 21, 1929, in Litchfield, to Gerald Lynn and Lillie Eleanor (Flynn) Fite. She married Harold Wayne Stewart on June 20, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2000.

She graduated from Litchfield Community High School with the clas of 1947.

During her career, Mrs. Stewart served as a bookkeeper for Gleichman Plumbing in Hillsboro for several years and its successor, Vogel Plumbing. She also kept the books for the family farm.

She and her husband farmed just north of Butler for several years.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield for many years and was recently attending the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. While at First Baptist, she was a member of the JOY Class and Keenagers Club.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting, and helped sew many quilts for the LINUS Project. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband, traveling and taking an annual trip with her family to Branson.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl (Barry) Stewart Hess of Seneca, SC, Brenda Booker of Pooler, GA, and Beth (Ed) Singleterry of Hillsboro; sister, Donna Stockstill of Greenville; six grandchildren, Jeffrey “Jay” (Lana) Johnson, Stefanie Singleterry, Andrew Stewart, Daniel (Jenna) Stewart, Zachary Booker and Katie (Amandeep) Stewart Singh; and five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Matthew and Gabriel Johnson, Natalie and Sophie Stewart.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Lori Stewart; daughter, Carol Krummel; and sister, Joan Prose.
