Jeanette M. (Lankford) Cassidy, 88, of Nokomis, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. 

A private family funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis, with Pastor Christian Prumm officiating. Burial will be held in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis. 

Mrs. Cassidy was born Feb. 25, 1932, to the late Rolla and Irene (McLean) Lankford. She married Lynis Cassidy on Nov. 18, 1951, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2013, after celebrating 61 years of marriage.

She attended school in McLeansboro and Nokomis, graduating from Nokomis High School. She and her husband farmed and raised livestock northwest of Nokomis on Lynis’s family farm. She taught Sunday school for many years, spanning many generations.

Mrs. Cassidy is survived by a daughter, Karen (Ivan) Benning of Harvel; a son, Craig Cassidy of Telequah, OK; grandchildren, Suzanne (Brian) Grundy, Andrew (Keri) Benning and Kyle Cassidy; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Lucas and Emma Grundy, and Colette Benning. 

In addition to her  parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Phyllis Lankford, Dale and Lois Jean Seagle, Jim and Fern Cassidy, and Norah Benning.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis.
