Jeffrey Scott Layman, 69, of Lake Zurich, died on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, peacefully, surrounded by his children.
Private services will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home in Crystal Lake.
Mr. Layman was born on Sept. 25, 1956, in Mountain Home, ID. He had a distinguished career with Monterrey Coal and Exxon Mobil, retiring as an international project safety supervisor. Known for his kindness and selflessness, he consistently put the needs of others before his own. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Layman considered his family his greatest love and most meaningful accomplishment.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jeania M. (née Dillard) Layman and passed on what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Layman is survived by his children, Jasmine Alepra-Abernathy (Vince) and Jason Layman (Joe Rouse); and his grandchildren, Kenneth Alepra, Joseph Alepra, Maggie Abernathy, Grayson Layman-Rouse and Blake Layman-Rouse.
