The Lincolnwood boys golf team picked up four wins in two matches early this week as the Lancers improved to 15-1 on the season.
Will Jenkins would start the week off with a bang as he earned medalist honors in the Lancers’ win over Auburn and North Mac at Edgewood Golf Club in Auburn.
Jenkins would shoot a 3-over-par 39 on the day, with birdies on both par-5 holes, plus three pars in the first six holes. His round would be the only sub-40 round of the day as he edged teammate Nate Brockmeyer for the top spot by one stroke.
Like Jenkins, Brockmeyer also had three pars and two birdies, both coming on the par-5s, while Michael Jones also had a birdie on the par-5 seventh hole and finished one stroke behind Brockmeyer with a 41.
Devin Brown would add in a 45 to the Lancer score sheet, securing the victory over the Trojans and Panthers, who shot 183 and 184 respectively to the Lancers’ 165.
In addition to the four scorers, Michael Graham and Braxton Schmedeke also played for Lincolnwood and broke 50. Graham finished with two pars and a 46 on the day, while Schmedeke also had two pars and a 48.
At Timber Lakes
Will Jenkins would stay hot on Tuesday as he and Braxton Schmedeke would lead the Lancers to a 172 at Timber Lakes Golf Course in Staunton and wins over South County (180) and Mt. Olive (220).
The two Lancers would each shoot 5-over-par 41s on the day, with Jenkins putting in four pars and a birdie on the par-5 16th hole, Lincolnwood’s only birdie of the day. Schmedeke would be just as consistent with six pars in his nine holes on the back half of the Staunton course.
Both players would be seven strokes off the pace of medalist Dain Richie, who shot a 34 to lead South County, but the Lancers’ overall balance gave them the win over the Vipers.
Devin Brown and Michael Graham would add in a pair of 45s for the other two scoring rounds, while Nate Brockmeyer was a stroke back in the fifth spot with a 46. Levi Weir also earned the varsity start on Tuesday, shooting a 53 for the match.
Lincolnwood’s JV squad also got some work in at Staunton and shot a 210. Both Lance Weitekamp and Brady Schmedeke would break 50, shooting 46 and 47 respectively, while Drake Germann added a 55.
Jhadyn Walker would provide the fourth best Lincolnwood JV round with a 62, while Graham Gunn (64) and George Schoenherr (70) also played.
The JV boys will play again on Thursday, Sept. 17, against Pana at Oak Terrace Golf Club, while the varsity boys will be in Taylorville at Lakeshore Golf Course the same day.
