Jerold Wayne Darnell, 81, of Belleville, died on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, in St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services will be held at a later date at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Shiloh, 522 Maple Street. Schildknecht Funeral Home in O’Fallon is assisting the family.

Mr. Darnell was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Paducah, KY, to Aaron and Beulah (Humphrey) Darnell. He married Bonnie Sullivan, and she preceded him in death.

He was a pastor of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Shiloh, and former pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Salem and Wickliffe Baptist Church in Wickliffe, KY. In addition to ministry, he enjoyed running a painting business, One Way Painting, with his son.

Mr. Darnell was a lifelong mason and member of the Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis and proud union member for 25 years. He enjoyed guns, target shooting and collecting knives.

He is survived by his two children, Monta (Ray) Morales of Belleville and Don (Kim) Darnell of Independence, MO; sister, Jeanette (Dan) Wallace of Symsonia, KY; seven grandchildren, Diana (Jon) White, Valerie Morales, Aaron Morales, Lindsay (Bryan) Farley, Tiffany Darnell, Dylan Darnell and Victoria Darnell; and great-grandchildren, Nolan White, Evelyn White, Jace Morales, Ava Farley, Marcus Farley and Stela Darnell.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Darnell was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kelly, Dallas and Pat Darnell; and seven sisters, Thalma Short, Lava Vaughn, Lorene Wallace, Peggy Phelps, Offie Darnell, Mary Darnell and Aubrey Darnell.
