Jerry Wayne Myers, 83, of Shelbyville, formerly of Pana, died on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at 7:21 a.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Altman and the Rev. Linda Trent co-officiating. Burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Mr. Myers was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Washington, IN, to Florian D. and Dorothy (Jones) Myers. He married Barbara Hart on Dec. 25, 1950, in Washington, IN, and she survives.

He and his wife moved to Illinois in 1962, when he took the job of cattle herdsman and farmed for R.B. Siegert in Pana. He later managed the Wayne's Feed Store in Pana, and worked on Guy Parr's farm near Rosamond.

Mr. Myers then became a linesman for Shelby Electric Co-op in Shelbyville, where he worked until his retirement in 1997. 

He was a member of the Fourth Street Methodist Church in Shelbyville. He enjoyed golfing, and was an avid fan of Indiana Hoosier Basketball and the Chicago Cubs.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Myers is survived by his son, Ron (wife Pam) Myers of Nokomis; daughters, Janice Punches of Clifton, VA, Jeannette (husband Paul) Newberry  and Debbie Myers, both of Shelbyville, and Wanda (husband Brad) Koons of Tower Hill; sisters, Jane Allen of Atlanta, GA, and Betty Lee and Diana Carson, both of Greensburg, IN; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Capt. Jack Punches; two brothers, Jim and Jack Myers; and two sisters, Joyce Myers and Judy Sanders.
