Jo Ann Burke-Fullington, 70, of Carlinville, died on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at her home in Carlinville, surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services were held at Charity Baptist Church in Carlinville on Tuesday, May 12. Burial followed in Charity Cemetery in Carlinville. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fullington was born on Sept. 30, 1955, in Carlinville, the youngest daughter of Lester Scharfenberg and Virginia (Jenkins) Scharfenberg. She attended beauty school after high school, then she went to Brown’s business school.
She spent most of her years as a correctional officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections and retired after 26 years there. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She found a strong faith and many friends through attending Charity Baptist Church. She is a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Fullington of Carlinville; daughter, Lori (Jeff) Brown of Carlinville; son, John (Maggie) Fullington of Litchfield; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry (Joan) Scharfenberg and Ted Scharfenberg; sisters, Jerilyn Rosetti and Joyce (Roy) Emmons of Carlinville; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Janet K. Scharfenberg and Judith Mae Fullington; and brother-in-law, Rich Rosetti.
