Joan Jeanette Jones, 94, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at 3:35 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital with her daughters by her side.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required. Private family funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home with the Rev. Cassie Sexton-Riggs officiating. Private family inurnment will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mrs. Jones was born on Oct. 15, 1926, in Harvel, to Walter H. and Mary F. (Wiegreffe) Zimmerman. She married Howard Keith Jones on Nov. 15, 1947, and he preceded her in death.

She grew up in Harvel and graduated from Harvel High School. She later became a housewife and also worked with her family business, Zimmerman Equipment Company.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Jones and her husband enjoyed golfing, traveling and wintering in Jensen Beach, FL. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going out to dinner with her friends.

A member of Union Avenue Christian Church and the Litchfield Country Club, she is described as a very classy lady, a legend and true friend. She is remembered for her quick wit and dry sense of humor, and will be missed by many.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters, Pamela Pastrovich and Phyllis Shell, both of Litchfield; brother, Kelly Zimmerman of Brownsville, TX; three grandchildren, Bradley (Marisa) Pastrovich, Brooke (Jimmy) Gorowski and Brittany (John) Winans; two stepgrandchildren, Justin (Barbra) Shell and Allison Shell; seven great-grandchildren, Tucker, Tessa and Teagan Pastrovich, Grace and Griffin Gorowski and Addy and Owen Winans; and six stepgreat-grandchildren, Jason, Jenna and Jared Shell and Devon, Trae and Isaiah Shell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Walter Shell; and infant sister, Donna Zimmerman.
