Joan Marie Watts Eppinger Davis, 94, of Litchfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center.
Memorial services for Ms. Davis will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 12 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
Ms. Davis was born on Feb. 9, 1932, in Litchfield, the eighth child of Argale and Verda (Hall) Watts. She was baptized in 1943 at Union Avenue Christian Church and remained a life long member, where she and Robert Lee Eppinger were married on Feb. 1, 1952.
Ms. Davis worked for Attorney Burt McWilliams after graduating from Litchfield High School in 1950, then retired from Buske Trucking in 1983, after 20 years of dispatch and office work. After her retirement, she worked at the Macoupin County Health Dept. and volunteered at Heritage Health nursing home in Gillespie. She enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling and playing scrabble with her sisters.
Ms. Davis is survived by one brother, Arthur Watts; four children; three sons, Robert Eppinger, Timothy (Terri) Eppinger and Charles (Eunhee) Eppinger and one daughter, Jamel (Gary) Michalik; two grandsons, Matt (Monica) Eppinger and Adam (Vanessa) Eppinger; four granddaughters, Jennifer (Mike) Alexander, Leslie (AJ) Barnett, Erin (Greg) Bowers and Betsy Eppinger; four great-granddaughters; Kambrilyn, Wrigley, Brooklyn and Isabella and three great-great-grandsons, William, Griffin and Zion; and one great-great-granddaughter, Wilder.
Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Anna Mae Watts, Juanita Goff, Norma Watts, Ellen Clelland and Erma Niehaus and one brother, Charles Watts; daughter-in-law, Jane Eppinger; and an infant granddaughter, Kim Eppinger.
