John Gaither, 89, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Taylorville, died peacefully on March 11, 2025.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Moweaqua.
Mr. Gaither was born on March 6, 1936, and graduated from Bethany High School in 1954. He married Nancy Tucker on Nov. 7, 1954, and they later divorced. He married Ruth Ann Beiermann on Nov. 24, 1993, and she survives.
He was a life-long farmer in the Blue Mound and Dalton City areas and sold seed corn. His hobbies included playing Texas Hold’em and visiting casinos. Watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Gunsmoke were also favorite pastimes.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gaither is survived by his sister, Marilyn (Jim) Fitzgerald; daughter, Janet (Kim Brown) Gaither; stepdaughter, Stefanie (Alex Harris) Glover; stepsons, Jason and Jeff Glover; granddaughters, Adriann Gaither, Jessie (Kevin) Jewell, Audrey (Kate Pasicznyk) Bafford and Gwen (Dustin) Donaldson; great-granddaughters, Camille Gaither and Vera Donaldson; and step great-grandson, Nash Donaldson.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Jr.
