John H. Morrison, 102, of Litchfield, formerly of Homer, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

Private funeral services will be held with Pastor Hju Nam officiating. Burial will be held in G.A.R. Cemetery in Homer. Kirby Funeral Home in Homer is assisting the family.

Mr. Morrison was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Homer, the son of Carl and Edda (Krukewitt) Morrison. He married Christine Weise on Nov. 24, 1946, in Homer, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2009.

He served in the Marine Corps during WWII. He and his wife lived in Homer most of their lives, then moved to Carlinville. 

He was a former volunteer fireman for Homer, a board member for Vance Township, as well as a Homer school board member and past president.

 A member of Homer United Methodist Church, Homer Masonic Lodge #199 and a 75-year member of the Homer American Legion #290. He was an avid fisherman and loyal Illini basketball fan.

He is survived by children, John F. Morrison of Santa Fe, NM; Jan (John) Ashbrook of Champaign; David (Susie) Morrison of Carlinville and Daniel (Tammy) Morrison of Forsyth; sister, Lois Nielson of Palm Harbor, FL; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willard Morrison.
