John L. Fixsal, 81, of Morrisonville, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at 8:20 a.m. at his residence.

Private family burial will be held in St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville is assisting the family.

Mr. Fixsal was born April 28, 1938, in Jeisyville, the son of Carl and Beatrice (Graham) Fixsal, Sr. He married Della May Skinner on Oct. 5, 1955, at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, and she survives.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis, and resigned to serve in the Army National Guard as well. He was a laborer for many years through the Decatur Local 159. A longtime member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and carpentry.

In addition to his wife of over 64 years, he is survived by his children, Debbie Mathes of Owaneco, Jim (wife Karen) Fixsal of St. Louis, MO, Mike Garwood of Hinesville, GA, Diana (husband Craig) Wade of Dawson, Darlene Myers of Morrisonville, Marcy Greenwell of Rochelle and Cathy Graham of Rochelle; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Floyd Fixsal of Taylorville and Carole Plopper of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Cathy Threnn; and brothers, Bob and Carl Fixsal.
