John P. Speiser, 77, of Witt died on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:01 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Mr. Speiser will be cremated. A Celebration of life and inurnment will be held at a later date.
Mr. Speiser was born on August 16, 1948, in Pana, the son of John W. and Ruth (Hines) Speiser. He married Connee Cain in May of 1967, in St. Charles, MO.
He worked for Illinois Consolidated for ten years and then farmed for the rest of his career. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Witt Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. He especially loved to hunt and fish with his friends.
Mr. Speiser is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Speiser of Murphysboro and Rebecca Styron of California; son, Phil (Jodi) Speiser of Witt; grandchildren, Hollis Styron and William and Hope Speiser; niece, Melissa Powell and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth Ann Harston.
Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice.
