John Wayne Foster, 83 of Harvel, died on March 14, 2023 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Wagahoff and Pastor Jim Wagahoff co-officiating. Interment will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.
Mr. Foster was born on April 5, 1939, at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, to Lester Seward and Bessie May (Kraner) Foster. He served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 15, 1962 to July 6, 1964 where he was stationed near Fairbanks, Alaska at a missile site.
Mr. Foster was an active member of A Community of Faith Church in Raymond and farmed with his father. He was also business partners with Jerry and Donna Wagahoff and Neil Wagahoff in Home Oil in Raymond.
He is survived by his nieces, Myra Hubbard of Anderson, CA, and Lucy Anderberg of Raymond; and nephews, Tom Anderberg of Oakland, CA, Stephen Anderberg of Austin, TX, and Peter Anderberg of San Antonio, TX.
Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta (George) Anderberg; and his brother, Joe Foster.
