Johnny M. Thiele, 63, of Vandalia, died on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Vandalia. An additional visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial will be held in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thiele was born May 6, 1956, in Pana, to Louie Seiler and Betty J. (Hoffman) Thiele. He married Brenda Dothager on May 14, 1976, in Mulberry Grove, and she preceded him in death on Nov.  11, 2011.

During his career, she served as a warranty claims adjuster for Case IH. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith and was a member of Avanti Studebaker Club. He was a huge car enthusiast.

Mr. Thiele is survived by his mother of Vandalia; son, Ryan (Lexi) Thiele of Ramsey; daughter, Jaclyn (Jason) Clay of Vandalia; sister, Jeannie (Darrell) Fesser of Butler; grandchildren, Brenley, Griffin, Megann and Hunter; father-in-law, Bill Dothager of Mulberry Grove; brother-in-law, Gary (Donna) Dothager of Mulberry Grove; and sisters-in-law, Lucetta (Mike) Durbin and Carol (Joey) Ferguson, both of Vandalia, and Barbara (Mike) Reiss of Ramsey.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father.
