Rolene Dorothy Kraigher, 97, of New Douglas, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas with the Rev. Thomas Kratzer officiating.  Burial was held in New Douglas Cemetery. Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kraigher was born Oct. 17, 1923, in New Douglas Township in Madison County, the daughter of August F. and Minnie (Keiser) Hemann. She married Herman W. Kraigher on Feb. 25, 1945, in New Douglas, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2004.

She and her husband were co-owners of Kraigher’s Store in New Douglas for 58 years, where their slogan was “Everything from soup to nuts.” A perfect wife, she supported her husband throughout his life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

A member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, she participated in the Ladies Auxiliary and the Altar Guild. When her children were young, she was a member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and was a wonderful room mother to the kids. She was an excellent cook and also provided the very best cakes for all occasions throughout the  community. She loved to watch the birds in her yard, especially while quilting and embroidering.

She is survived by her daughters, Carole (husband Barry) Schuepbach of Lakeland, FL, and Sharon Tayler and Pamela Kraigher, both of New Douglas; son, Gregory (wife Janet) Kraigher of Johns Creek, GA; grandchildren, Tami (husband Jeremy) Drda-Corday, Becky (husband Mike) Drda-Cieslowski, Greg Kraigher and Brian Kraigher; great-granddaughter, Ella Cieslowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Tom Drda, Ron Tayler and Ray Bircher; brothers, Lorenz Hemann, Harold Hemann, Walter Hemann, Wilmer Hemann and Edwin Hemann; and sisters, Frieda DeVries, Edna Suhre, Irene Weishaupt and Leona Suhre.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
