Joseph T. Pocklington, 64, of Standard City, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 9, at 10 a.m. in Rural Cemetery with the Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Pocklington was born Aug. 16, 1955,  in Carlinville, to Charles and Anna (Pennel) Pocklington, Sr. He married Sharon K. Copple on Feb. 14, 1976, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, and she survives.

He was a steel worker for Triple L. Steel until he was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1989, which left him unable to work. Prior to his employment with Triple L Steel, he was the owner/operator of Pocklington Sanitation. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, camping and listening to classic rock.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by son, Joseph “Joey” (companion Amy Kline) Pocklington of Carlinville; two granddaughters, Justine (Brandon) Arroyo and Mercedes Pocklington, both of Farmersville; great-grandson, Zaydein Pocklington; two brothers, Ed Pocklington and Jimmy (Vickie) Pocklington, both of Carlinville; two sisters, Mary Pocklington of Gillespie and Anna (Jerry) Wheaton of Virden; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Pocklington, Jr. and Simmy Pocklington.

Memorials may be made to Celtic Visiting Nurses or the American Spinal Injury Association.
