Joshua Ray Dickerson, 39, of Edwardsville, died on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 9:32 a.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 24, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.

Mr. Dickerson was born May 12, 1981, in Highland, to Russel and Terri (Hall) Dickerson.

He graduated from Edwardsville High School with the class of 1999, and continued his education while studying carpentry.

During his career, Mr. Dickerson was a self-employed carpenter, owning and operating Dickerson Enterprises. He and his brother also owned and operated IAM, an asphalt company. With his remaining spare time, he installed garage doors.

He was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Pontoon Beach, where he was baptized and saved.

Mr. Dickerson was an upbeat, cheerful, good man who loved playing with all of his nieces and nephews. He also loved skydiving, having completed jumps on two separate occasions with his dad. He enjoyed and loved many things, but what he loved most of all was helping other people.

He is survived by his parents of Pocahontas; siblings, Caleb Dickerson of Granite City, Leah (husband Golia) Begley of Lost City, OK, and Daniel (wife Katrina) Dickerson of Shepherdsville, KY; nieces and nephews, Jacob, Gavin, Autumn, Abigail, Justice, Cyrus and Avalynn; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and his faithful dogs, Frog and Chewy.

Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Millard and Gladys Hall; and paternal grandparents, Jack and Alice Dickerson.
