Joyce Lorraine Peters, 57, of Farmersville, died on Saturday, April 13, 2019, surrounded by her family at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Carlinville.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 19, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Divernon. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Rick Irwin officiating. Burial will take place in Morrisonville Cemetery. Hough Memorial Home in Farmersville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Peters was born Sept. 21, 1961, to John R. and Nellie (VanHuss) Allen. She married Kirby Ralph Peters on Jan. 31, 1988, in Jamaica, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2014.
She farmed with her husband Kirby for many years in the Farmersville area. She also served as a physical therapy assistant, working in several nursing homes and in the home health care system.
Mrs. Peters loved traveling to various places abroad with her husband. She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by five sisters, Jane (Rick) Irwin of Springfield, Judy (Jim) Crouch of Girard, Janet K. (William, Jr.) Brewer and Jewel (Doug) Brant, both of Chatham and Jennifer Rendleman of Divernon; three brothers, John (companion Shannon) Allen and Joe (companion Cheri) Allen, both of Springfield, and Jeff Allen of Divernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her parents.
