Judy Sauls, 84, of Sorento, died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, in Belleville.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m., with the funeral service following from 6 to 7 p.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Panama. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. The family has entrusted Assalley Funeral Home in Panama with the ceremonies.
Mrs. Sauls was born on June 3rd, 1941, to Marvin and Norma (Feezel) LaTempt in Alton. She graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto with the class of 1959. After high school she became a legal secretary for a local lawyer. In 1975, she started her career in the laundry department of Hillsboro Area Hospital, where she worked her way up to Director of Environmental Services until her retirement. After retirement she worked part-time for Cullison Law Firm until her passing.
Mrs. Sauls loved God and Jesus. She could be found every Sunday morning in a pew at the Panama Baptist Church in Panama. She was the best cook and made her family dinner every Sunday after church. She enjoyed breakfast with her friends at least once a month. Her hobbies included church, cooking, baking, spending time with her family, working puzzles and doing coloring pages on her iPad.
Mrs. Sauls is survived by her two children, Daniel (Rachelle) Sauls and Sherri Sauls; grandchildren Andrew Sauls and Kirsten (Jake) Sauls; great-granddaughter, Dakota Sauls; great-grand pup, Stetson; sister, Sue Kirn; brother, Jack LaTempt; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Dave) Garst; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sauls; parents, Marvin (Ruby) LaTempt and Norma (Bob) Weatherholt (nee Feezel); father and mother-in-law, Brice and Virginia Sauls; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and June Sauls; sister-in-law, Debbie LaTempt; and grandson, Michael Stein.
